Joe Hornstein Loving South Florida

It’s almost been a month since I moved back down to Miami. So much has changed in the five plus years I’ve been gone, and slowly I notice so much is the same. I do miss my friends in Orlando. My former job allowed me to meet so many great people, sports enthusiasts. I’m so happy that many of those friends I still keep in touch with. Now, my new job, Director of Media Relations with FIU Athletics. I am so grateful to Pete and Paul for bringing me home. So enjoyable to be at a program where with every win or loss, every milestone reached, every benchmark there is an appreciation. The growth of this University has been astonishing. It a few short years FIU will be one of the largest enrollments in the United States. Support for the Panthers will continue to grow. Come on out to a game some time. You know how to find me.

South Florida is a pro sports mecca, well at least it is to me. In the last month, seen the Miami Heat a few times (now they are in the playoffs), the Florida Panthers home playoff win vs. the Devils (they ultimately dropped the series 4-3), will be going to Marlins Park for the first time today. There are three local sports radio stations to choose from 24 hours a day! Nonetheless, Open Mike (Mike Bianchi) and the Beat of Sports (Marc Daniels) where two of my favorites to listen to while heading into the old job back in East Orlando. I will still root for the Orlando City Lions from afar, but will also renew my allegiance for the new Ft. Lauderdale Strikers.

Will try to blog again soon. Cheers!
Joe
